In this educational webcast, Jane Diggle, a diabetes specialist nurse from the United Kingdom, explains how chronic kidney disease (CKD) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) are related and the importance of detecting CKD early to prevent the occurrence of further severe vascular events. The recently released clinical guidelines for the treatment of adults with diabetic kidney disease (DKD) in the UK are introduced, as well as the standards of medical care in Diabetes 2022. In addition, a new therapeutic option using the novel non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor agonist (MRA) finerenone for the treatment of CKD associated with T2D in adult patients will be presented.
