Optimized management of chronic kidney disease in diabetes: practical considerations for nurses

In this webcast, Dr. Boris Klanger, a general practitioner in Västerås, Sweden, discusses the diagnosis and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in type 2 diabetes (T2D). The role of inflammation and fibrosis in CKD progression is elucidated and the new treatment for patients with advanced CKD and T2D with finerenone is presented. The cardiovascular and kidney outcomes of the FIDELIO-DKD and FIGARO-DKD clinical trials with finerenone are reviewed and a fictitious case study of a patient with advanced CKD and T2D is discussed.
